Sarah E. Mooney
Sarah Mooney focuses her practice on tax and corporate issues affecting tax-exempt organizations, including charities, foundations, trade associations and other nonprofit organizations. Ms. Mooney advises nonprofit organizations with respect to: formation and exemption applications, audits, Form 990 filing issues, unrelated business income tax issues, lobby and political activity restrictions, intermediate sanctions and other compensation-related issues.
Ms. Mooney also advises tax-exempt organizations with respect to governance issues, including the development of good board governance policies and practices and the handling of conflicts of interest, business transactions, general corporate law, contracts, intellectual property, employment matters, and government relations. She regularly monitors proposed legislation, regulations, and rulings that may affect tax-exempt clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mooney practiced in the Business & Finance, Tax Group of Hogan & Hartson, LLP.
